Work-Life Balance Jobs for Parents

I am all about women leaning into their careers, with or without children. I am in total support of daycares, family members, nannies, babysitters and au pairs helping families make dual-income households a possibility. Heck, single-family households don’t have a choice whether or not to be bringing home a paycheck – we all need a roof over our heads and food on the table.

I am also all about parents who choose to stay home with their children out of necessity or desire. This post is not an argument for or against a parent returning to work or staying home. This isn’t about climbing a ladder, leaning in, leaning out or simply standing still. Whether you go to work because you want to or have or both to is not the question here. I respect all decisions and situations.

Women are leaders, doctors, lawyers, lawmakers, scientists, politicians, educators – there is absolutely no shortage of possibilities and positions a women can succeed in, obviously. Some high-powered, highly respected, challenging, exciting, and/or high-paying positions offer flexibility and others do not.

Here is simply a run down of some of the opportunities out there for parents looking for either part-time, family friendly or remote careers/jobs (or a combo of all) in order to balance work and life a little differently than pre-kids. That does not mean you can’t still be on the leader, lawyer, doctor, scientist train if that position works for you and your family!

Let’s start with a list of some possible jobs that are actually quite ‘remote’ friendly:

  • Social Media Manager
  • Travel Agent
  • Meeting Planner
  • Virtual Assistant
  • Sales Assistant and Account Relationship Manager
  • Recruiting Coordinator
  • HR Coordinator / HR Administrator
  • HR Business Partner for outside sales or contractors

This is not it, people. There are plenty of other positions various companies offer as remote.

You can find remote jobs on the following sites:

Even though all of the above links are respected and well-branded platforms – they are just that – platforms. You should always evaluate companies, positions and offers carefully/thoroughly and on their own merits. Don’t be fooled into a job where you have to spend money to get the position – like buying product.

  • Salesforce
  • Forward
  • AutoDesk
  • QuickTutor
  • Clearwater
